Re: Dissociative Identity Disorder

I don't have it but I have a few friends that have it.

It's a defence mechanism to my understanding.

Re: Dissociative Identity Disorder

I have been diagnosed with DID, although I agree it should not be considered a disorder but rather a very clever and effective way a yet developed young child's brain uses to adapt to horrific abuse. A child (usually before the age of 8). I have also been diagnosed with C-PTSD, and would guess that close to 100% of people with DID would also have comorbid C-PTSD. I have been told you don't really get over DID, but you can learn to deal with it more effectively by seeking treatment that helps you to reconnect with the dissociated parts of yourself and either live in co-operation with them, or integrate into one whole. It depends on the preferences and capabilities of the person, the age of diagnosis etc.

The Three Faces of Eve was actually not a true story.

Hey @balance37

Thank you for your post and your thoughts here on the Forums!

You have demonstrated courage talking about your thoughts about DID and C-PTSD here on the Forums and resilience in coping with these diagnoses.

I know of a great resource for DID and I thought I would share it with you here: DissociaDID - YouTube it's a really great YouTube channel!

Thanks for being part of the community!

Take care
