Losing battle with 19 year old bipolar daughter
Hi tired mother here just venting!
Daughter just turned 19, she is just finishing a 2 year stint with Headspace being supported for Biplolar, she also suffers from endometriosis. Now that she is no longer deemed a child and had her 2 years we are back out there trying to navigate the best way we can. She is medicated and has a supportive GP. We have a mental health care plan, but finding it very hard to get a psychiatrist to monitor her meds, and psychologist appointments have long waiting times and are expensive even with a Medicare rebate.
Her behaviour has changed from the caring compliant child to someone who compulsively lies to try and please, but shows no remorse or emotion and steals money mostly to buy vapes and then sleeps most of the day. She cannot keep a job or study as inattentive and thought disordered. Her self is esteem low and we have tried to get her into a routine, exercise, undertake a good diet and do all the things that would help but I feel she is spiralling downwards again and the family is tired from the battles. We have battled suicide attempts and voices, multiple emergency department visits but still love her dearly.
Not sure what more we can do?

Re: Losing battle with 19 year old bipolar daughter
I can’t offer much advice but have a daughter who is 20 and we’ve experienced similar to you and feel on edge regularly.
