Beautiful @Shaz51

Re: Self care by growing a garden

Lovely @Shaz51. My sister is keen on orchids, and has some beauties. Mostly Cymbidiums.

My only successful orchid is a native Greenhood that I've got in a pot. It was in flower when I bought it, and is coming up to its third flowering, so that means I've had it for a bit under two years. I repotted it last summer, carefully following instructions I found online for potting medium and other requirements, and I was delighted when they came up looking very healthy afterwards. 🙂 One of their requirements is that you re-use the old potting medium as at least half the volume of the new mix, because there's a mycorrhizal fungi which associates with their roots and feeds the plants. Once they die down again, my sister wants to use some of the soil to innoculate a mix for some native orchid seeds that she's got which also need the mycorrhiza.

Thank God nobody cared about what I wrote this morning @Shaz51 - to be honest it only seems like 5 minutes ago when I woke up.

Re: Self care by growing a garden

On writing as a therapy & worry room & @Shaz51 +my quotes thread. If no one noticed I suppose it wasn't a big deal lol.

Re: Self care by growing a garden

Yes your orchids are gorgeous @Shaz51

I gave up trying to grow orchids, since my last ones died years ago.

Crucifix orchids are lovely (in various colours) - even those died eventually.
