Re: How to talk to a GP or other mental health professional about self-harm

Hi I feel the same trying to have that conversation.
Why cant people have a conversation I'm not going to Suicde by just talking openly about it. For me not being able to talk about being suicidal make it worse.
I saw my gp and told he said try not to think about it.
I tried to talk about it with my psychiatrist and psychologist both times ending up in the mental health unit.
In the metal health unit when I tried to have the conversation they would sedate me.
since October I have been in the mhu 5 times. My 6th visit I spent a month there. Also 16 different med changes.
For me it is a daily battle I have attempted three times in the past 10 months.
I just want to be able to have the discussion why is this my only option to have a way out and always the means.
I just want to say I am safe at the moment.
I also have all the numbers.
Karen

Re: How to talk to a GP or other mental health professional about self-harm

I'm sitting at the clinic now waiting waiting...
Hopefully I see my GP before I lose my nerve...
I'm telling myself I have to at least see him so's I can get a sick certificate.
One of my friends called earlier and said if I didn't go he'd drive down here to take me to the doc. He lives about 4 hours away. And I know he'd do it, so I'm here, otherwise I'd feel even worse.

Re: How to talk to a GP or other mental health professional about self-harm

All done. Didn't really discuss my thoughts... I half said, but yeah...

We talked, I cried, he talked, I still cried.

I'm still miserable, but he said that I need to work on opening up to my pdoc. And he said he'll call and speak to my pdoc.

It's all so goddamn hard though. I didn't have a normal upbringing, I don't know how to be open with people.

He gave me a copy of my latest psych report, there's a part in there that cracked me up. It sums me up completely, which is kinda sad...20150808_174809-1.jpg
