Re: Jude’s Jungle

Hi @Judi9877

Great to read your update. I'm sad things are tough. I agree that the forums help me feel less isolated too. You have made me feel welcome with your daily updates on the good morning thread. I like reading about your knitting & different things going on in your life (of course Mitzy too) Things will get better soon.

Re: Jude’s Jungle

@Judi9877 hoping your meds can be worked out for you and makes it a little easier for you.

Take care 💗

Re: Jude’s Jungle

Good evening @Snowie @maddison @Peregrinefalcon @Shaz51 @Paperdaisy @Former-Member @Former-Member @FloatingFeather @Former-Member @Former-Member @Eve7 @hanami @TAB @MDT @Jynx and everyone here tonight in the jungle. Thanks for stopping by!

Over the past few days whilst in hospital, I’ve been spending some time knitting strips for an adult blanket for charity and also doing some crochet to help fill in the time on the ward. Below are the photos of what I’ve been doing. I’m currently working on the 4th strip to add to the blanket plus I’ll join it up to the other 4 sections I have at home once I get discharged from here.

The knitted strips are 120cm long and the blanket will soon be 160cm high x 120cm wide - 8 strips at 20cm wide on 4mm knitting needles. It’s giving me something to do here in hospital which is the main thing as I tend to just shut my eyes for something to do when I get bored but I can’t actually get down to a proper sleep as such.

My depression is starting to slowly lift with my main concerns now being my car and the associated costs of what’s wrong with it and how much it will cost and my concerns for my sister who is meant to be booked for a cruise as of next Monday from Sydney with all the news of coronavirus affecting the cruise ships. I’m just hoping she’ll be okay and be safe and have a fun time onboard the ship.

That’s all from me tonight as I’m feeling a little flat right now. Thanks for reading this entry.

Take care.

Re: Jude’s Jungle

Good afternoon @Snowie @maddison @MDT @TAB @tyme @Former-Member @hanami @Former-Member @Shaz51 @Former-Member @OscarJones @Paperdaisy @Eve7 @Faith-and-Hope @Appleblossom @BPDSurvivor @Daisydreamer @Former-Member @Jynx and everyone here joining me in the jungle. Thanks for dropping by!

So the latest update from me at Jungle HQ is I’ve moved wards to a smaller less de a different psych ward in the same hospital as of last night as I don’t need as much care from staff members in the main psych ward which is a good thing. I’ll be here until next Tuesday which is when my housemate will be home and ready to keep an eye on me and my mental health with a change  of tablets happening so far for the better. The suicidal thinking has dropped off and the voices are less frequent and demanding which is a good thing. I saw the ward psychiatrist yesterday who asked me when I would like to go home as to how I’ve recovered and I agreed to Tuesday since my housemate is busy on Monday and won’t be home to let me in the unit since I haven’t got my house keys on me. He was cool with that so that’s good. This ward is much quieter which is good because it means it’s less chaotic and demanding but could get boring as only patients who are getting ready for discharge are accepted on the ward and who are deemed to need less medical supervision and treatment. The idea of moving wards was mentioned on Monday night and as a bed became available last night, I moved last night to the new ward so it was a slight panic in me packing things up snd moving. My hidden crochet hook got discovered by the nurse on the intake at 9pm and was taken off me along with several pairs of knitting needles but the nurse I got at 10pm said my crochet hook isn’t a safety issue and helped me get off to sleep so I was allowed to keep it. I just have to hand back my knitting each night at 10pm which I’ll do just to keep people happy.

I’ve just finished my last half of an adult blanket yesterday and sewed it up so I’ll take it home and add it to the rest of the blanket at home and sew it up to make 1 adult size blanket ready for charity. See below for the photos. I’ve also started knitting a new blanket as of yesterday afternoon so that’ll keep me busy for the next week. I’m just so lucky my housemate packed me a heap of wool in a bag to keep me busy as I don’t t know what I’d do without my knitting or crochet as I’m not a big reader or TV watcher so I’m limited in my choice of activities to keep me amused. I haven’t slept the past 2 afternoons which is a good thing as it means I’ve been able to keep myself busy and that’s an achievement in itself.

The above strip is the 120cm strip I completed whilst in hospital with the other 3 strips in the photo being of various forms of completion which I did complete last week.

I will admit that I’m feeling slightly better than when I was admitted a week ago although I’m still having trouble with my sleep unfortunately. I think I’ve needed this stay in hospital to regroup snd get things sorted with my meds being my primary concern which has happened so that’s a good thing. I’ve been having iPhone detoxes when my phone has been getting charged at the nurses station which has been somewhat rewarding yet challenging as I haven’t got a clock in my room to tell me the time but I have enjoyed the silence as it’s allowed me to knit, crochet, read a novel and just be in the moment which has been odd yet equally rewarding at the same time. A weird yet oddly rewarding experience to go through at least once a day.

As for my car issues, the mechanic I spoke to yesterday said something about 2 could being needed to be replaced and the bill should hopefully be under $1000. He’s still got to do a few more tests and then tell me if anything  else needs to be fixed before actually doing the work so I’ll call tomorrow and take it from there. Hopefully this sorts my car out once and for all!

Okay. Time for me to get a drink and do some more knitting I think! Take care and thanks for reading this discussion post.
